Automobiles in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were notified by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

An important political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
